Jimmy Fallon got Roman Reigns to comment on The Rock/WrestleMania rumor

After over a year of assuming it would be the main event of the WrestleMania 39Most of the wrestling world moved on from thinking Roman Reigns vs. The Rock would face off in April. The word is that with the XFL relaunching, not to mention everything else he already has on his plate, Dwayne Johnson doesn’t feel like he can get his ring ready in time.

It’s the word Reigns got, based on how he answered Jimmy Fallon The Tonight Show Last night (January 27) when the host sparked rumors that Roman would be facing off against his cousin Dwayne at SoFi Stadium. Short of mentioning The Rock’s excuse for allegedly training, the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion spoke enough rubbish to keep the door open until the massive match happens somewhere down the line:

That was the rumor – there’s been a lot of fuss about it for a long time now. I mean years ago. But it really picked up in the last two years.

“I think he just came out with a statement saying he’s not going to be ready in time, and that — the kind of face everyone makes, like, ‘Wait, he’s training every day… It’s huge!'” ”

To his defense, training with weights is one thing, bodybuilding is looks. But to be able to get in the ring and do a main event match — a championship match, the Undisputed WWE World Championship match — it takes a lot of conditioning. It hits your body.

“So there’s more to it than just training in the weight room… He’s the kind of professional athlete where you have to adapt to him, you know, doing two out of three things perfectly. His nutrition and weight training are on point, but you have to adapt.” With yourself and you’ve got to be ready to get ready for the fall. You’ll never get away from that.”

Fallon plays the hype man for The Tribal Chief, saying that’s especially true when facing Reigns. Hero agreed:

“That’s number one, Dwayne. When you’re up against Roman Reigns, you better be ready to fall.”

When asked about other potential Mania opponents, Roman mentioned current front-runners. About Sami Zayn, he said “Within my lineage, we’ve done some beautiful TV shows over the past six months.” He also laid out Cody Rhodes, and went into some detail about how impressed he was with Hell in a Cell’s performance last year.

Is Reigns getting ahead of himself? asked about Royal RumbleThe head of the table told Fallon that his strategy was to “don’t change anything” because he had “beat Kevin Owens for years”.
